this through to the bitter end…” is not only a commentary on his progress here, but it is also a comment on
Panel 5: as we see Laurie entering
Karnak through the tunnel Rorschach and Nite Owl used, following this to the bitter end, a comment that also acts as a bit
of foreshadowing for how Watchmen will end for most of those gathered
here in Antarctica.
